Personality: Guarded, remote, a touch cynical and perhaps a little bit sorrowful. There was once a great deal of pride in him, just shy of arrogance that the Mandalorian Wars burned away and were once he was considered one of the most outspoken and opinated of the Order he is now quiet and thoughtful.
Kellin feels a heavy burden due to his actions while following Revan and deeply feels the need to atone himself. As someone who once let himself slip to the Dark Side, letting rage and anger rule his mind he is now ever vigilant against letting those thoughts get the better of him. As a result of his 're-training', Kellin is very in tune with the Living Force and will deliberately go out of his way to help any living creature.
Despite this, Kellin is somewhat rough in his social graces. He often will seem distant or even rude to those not familiar with him.
History: Kellin was born on the distant world of Althir, independent of the Republic. As a result, he was not discovered by the Jedi until he was somewhat older than most. As it happened a wandering Jedi Knight happened across him while investigating pirates that operated in the area. Discovering Kellin's Force sensitivity, he requested permission to bring him back to the Temple on Coruscant and have him tested. Soon after, Kellin was welcomed into the Jedi Order.
Kellin had a fiery spirit that exhausted his many instructors and eventually his own Master. Try as they might, they couldn't quite calm the young man. Despite this peculiar rebellious streak, Kellin was eventually accepted as a Jedi Knight. As a Knight, he was outspoken, opinionated and rather aggressive. He frequently pushed for reforms within the Order and argued for a more proactive stance within the Galaxy, finding the reactive methods currently employed to be flawed and over-cautious.
It was no surprise to anyone that Kellin followed the other Jedi that joined Revan in the Mandalorian Wars. Like many of his fellow Revanchist Jedi, Kellin had his share of glory and adventure, being hailed as one of the heroes of the Republic. However, as the War dragged on Kellin found himself to be perhaps a bit too good at warfare. This was largely shrugged off until he participated in the liberation of his own home-world Althir one of the first worlds taken by the Mandalorians and the last world re-taken by the Jedi/Republic before Malachor V.
Seeing the occupation of his former home pushed Kellin over the edge that he had been walking throughout the War. He gave over to his anger and to the thrill of battle and fell to the Dark Side. It was a subtle thing at first, using methods that while arguably the most efficient were perhaps a bit too ruthless and brutal. Next, began the executions of Mandalorian prisoners. Before long the Dark Side had twisted his mind and left him in a blind fury. After reports reached the Jedi, a team was sent to investigate Kellin's behavior. At the time, he was clearing out some of the last Mundalorian warriors that had dug into some residential structures. Growing impatient with the long exchange of fire and the slow taking of ground, Kellin began using the Force to simply knock out the supports of the buildings.
However, in his rush to destroy the Mandalorians he had completely missed the fact that innocent civilians were holed up inside. After the investigation team caught up with him, he refused to listen to them insisting that they were just second-guessing the Jedi that had chosen to stand firm and fight the enemy. He drew his lightsaber and fought the team as they tried to convince him to turn away from the Dark Side. Throughout the fight, they made him aware of the civilians he had killed. Doubt began to take hold and he began to truly question himself just as a young boy stepped onto the battlefield.
The boy had been one of the survivors of Kellin's attack, having lost his entire family in the destruction. In a flash, Kellin received a vision of insight from the Force as he locked gazes with the boy. The young man then leveled his father's blaster at Kellin and shot him in the face, taking out his eye.
As the truth dawned on Kellin, he allowed himself to be taken in by the other Jedi. He turned from the Dark Side but allowed himself to be put on trial. In punishment for his crimes, he was held prisoner deep inside the Jedi Temple of Coruscant until the Council was convinced that he had truly stepped back into the Light. Since then, Kellin has become almost an entirely different person and fully intends to spend the rest of his life atoning for his fall.
