Personality: Urbane, cultured and somewhat ruthless. Despite his current status he was raised in the highest class of nobility and that still defines his persona. The paragon professional, Valerian will see his contracts through to the end relentlessly and without hesitation. He cannot be paid to give up or fail, though if someone is clever enough to figure out a loophole in his contract he might consider allowing it to be exploited.

He is always cool and collected, very rarely allowing anger to cloud his judgment and mostly believes revenge to be a sucker's game, though he will response to direct insults or sleights if he feels it necessary. Valerian posses his own twisted code of honor and as such typically gives those he feels can't properly defend themselves a sporting chance. If, however, he feels his target or opponent is capable he won't extend them such courtesy. He is usually very formal and polite and doesn't hold grudges past most jobs unless the other person tries to make it personal.

Khaal enjoys a challenge, though he might not admit it aloud and is somewhat fascinated by Force-users. He has a hobby of collecting the relics and artifacts of ancient Jedi and Sith for his personal collection.

History: Valerian was at one point the heir to the House of Khaal, an important noble house of Alderaan. However, the once great Khaal family had fallen on hard times. Rivals and enemies had picked away at the family's holdings, disrupting trade trade routes and stealing clients of their major businesses. The family fortune was drained to keep their businesses afloat.

Valerian's father was desperate to solve their financial problems and in his weakest hour turned to the Hutts for help. They offered ta loan as well as using the Khaal family businesses as fronts for smuggling and other criminals activities. As it happened, a Jedi that was investigating the Hutt gangsters activities uncovered the connection with the Khaal family and the family lost both it's wealth and it's reputation.

The House of Khaal was left in ruins, reduced to poverty and disgrace. Worse, the family still had to pay back the Hutts, who continued to send thugs to hassle the Khaals. After a few missed payments they decided to make an example of Valerian and jumped him while he was walking at night. By twist of fate, Valerian managed to not only fight back but defeat his attackers only minutes before Alderaan security forces arrived and arrested them. The thugs had an official bounty by the Republic government on their heads and Valerian was awarded the credits.

Inspired, Valerian took up bounty hunting as a career. He did well enough that he caught the eye of the Exchange. Given the organizations own rivalry with the Hutts and Valerian's problems with them, they offered to pay off his family's debt in return for his continued service. Valerian agreed and entered into the Exchange doing work for them in addition to his bounty hunting. His unusual level of trustworthiness and dedication to fulfilling his contracts earned him further attention from another clandestine group.

The GenoHaradan took note of his grasp of subtly and precision. Someone that knew how to work carefully with a deft touch and minimal causalities was perfectly suited to the group. After some careful and shadowy correspondence, Valerian was eventually accepted as a member though his role is unknown even to the Exchange and other members of the GenoHaradan.
